The Hamilton New Zealand Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the first Mormon temple built in the Southern Hemisphere. It was announced in 1955 and dedicated in 1958. It is a beautiful example of modern architecture and is considered a historic temple by the Church and a heritage listed structure in the Hamilton region.

After an unexpected delay due to COVID-19, the Hamilton New Zealand Temple โ€” renamed in 1999 to include the city โ€” was finally rededicated on Oct. 16, 2022, after renovations that started July 2018.
